Welcome to the world of Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird. You are living in the 1930s. Your home, neighbourhood, school, activities, clothes and social interactions are vastly different than anything you are familiar with in the year 2000 and beyond. This WebQuest will take you back in time to learn what your life is like as a young person growing up in the 30s - in Australia and Southern United States.

Significant Problem

Your group will need to develop an understanding of life during the depression in both Maycomb county and in Melbourne in the 1930s from the perspective of the different allocated roles.

Your group consists of four individuals:

A school teacher
A shop keeper's child
A travelling worker - swagman or hobo
An unemployed person's child
