Student Information

As part of your assessment in Science this semester, you will be required to complete (research, prepare and present) a multi-media presentation project. Multimedia simply refers to the fact that you will be using more than one method of communication to present what you have learned about one application of science and technology.

This project should help you understand current theories and of the origins of the Universe and the technology used to explore space. Your teacher will discuss suitable topics with you early in term 3.

It is highly recommended that for this project you use either Power point or HTML for your presentation. Some other acceptable examples of communication include: audio-visual/talk, working model or demonstration/talk, role play/talk.

There will be some class time set aside for the purpose of this task however you will also be required to work at home.

At the end of this assessment task, as students, you will have:

Planning

  1. Exploration of the links between space and technology (brainstorming and group discussion).
  2. Decide on an area from the above which most interests you.
  3. Generate questions about your chosen topic.
  4. List possible resources that you will use for this project.
  5. Think about the medium you will use to present this information (see above)
  6. Complete and submit a planning form by 17/7/09.

Presentation

You must be ready to present your project on the 9/10/09. Class time during term 4 will be set aside for presentations. Your assessment will be based upon the quality of the final presentation and how well it is supported by the materials that have been produced through the research process. The final presentation is graded HD1 to BS and the results will be included in your semester report.
