DO YOU REQUIRE AN INTERPRETER for parent teacher interviews?

If your parents would like the assistance of a trained interpreter for parent teacher night please let Miss Fox know by Wednesday 7 September. This service needs to be booked in advance so requests must be received by the above date.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS

We have received information regarding the following scholarship options:

1) The Youth Foundation – DOXA Hollingworth Cadetship Program. This program is designed to provide disadvantaged youth who have satisfactorily completed their year 12 studies, with the opportunity to pursue university education. It specifically aims to assist talented students who would otherwise be unable to continue with university studies because of difficult personal

circumstances. Cadetships are most likely to be awarded to students undertaking a degree relevant to the corporate sector. See Miss Fox for application forms. (room T38)

2) Deakin University - This program offers a number of scholarships to students. For further information visit: www.deakin.edu.au/scholarships

3) Universities Admission Centre NSW – Apply through UAC for Equity Scholarships. Equity scholarships assist students from low socio-economic backgrounds with higher education costs. Students receiving centrelink benefits are eligible and could receive up to $6000 a year. For more information contact www.uac.edu.au or see Miss Fox for a brochure.

Year 11 students note……2006 MELBOURNE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION PROGRAM

The University of Melbourne Extension Program provides high achieving Year 12 students the opportunity to study a first-year university subject sequence while still at school. The program provides participants with an intellectual challenge, a taste of

university life, the potential to receive credit towards a subsequent degree and the opportunity to gain an ENTER increment. In 2006, students may choose from 19 different subject areas. Information about the program can be found in a brochure located in Ms Fox’s room T38 (as can application forms). Alternatively, the University will host an Extension Program Information

YEAR 9 STUDENTS – TERM 3 HOLIDAY PROGRAM

The city of Stonington holiday program -‘Teenage Rampage’- runs from the 19 September - 30 September. Activities involve

visits to Galactic Circus, Royal Melbourne Show, Luna Park, horse riding, Alpine toboggan park, bowling, AFL hall of fame, Imax, rock climbing and fishing on the bay. CAMP AMERICA – one option for your GAP year

The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) is providing Australians 18yrs+ with an opportunity to work for 9 weeks, with American youngsters, from June-August on the Camp America summer camp program.
