Victorian Certificate of Education

Over the last five years the median ENTER achieved by our VCE students has been above 94.00

This means that more than 50% of students are ranked in the top 6% of students in Australia. Consequently, our students have excellent access to their choice of university courses. The focus in the senior years is maintaining breadth of experience and academic excellence. Melbourne High School offers 150 different VCE Units and access to VET Certificates.

Most VCE studies have four semester long units. Units 1 and 2 can generally be taken
as single units. Units 3 and 4 are more advanced and must be taken as sequence.

Year 10 students at Melbourne High School are given the opportunity to attempt up to
two non-sequential VCE units.

At Year 11, most students undertake 12 semester length units over the full year. Most
students at Year 11 take a Unit 3 and 4 subject.

Year 11 students at Melbourne High School normally undertake English Units 1 and 2 per semester during School time. Students who attempt a Unit 3 and 4 sequence at Year 11 generally do this very successfully in areas where no prior knowledge is assumed. This helps students to maximise their ENTER.

Year 12 students undertake five Unit 3 and 4 sequences of study.

Many Year 12 students study Units 3 and 4 without having studied the corresponding Units 1 and 2 in subjects.
