Centenary of Federation - The National Council for the Centenary of Federation was established to coordinate activities to mark the Centenary of Federation in 2001. The purpose of the site of the Centenary of Federation is to involve Australians in celebration of the centenary and help them learn more about the history of the Federation and its significance in the past and future of the country. Federation Gateway. Launched by the National Library of Australia to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the union of six Australian colonies into one nation. 1901 Centre - "The 1901 Centre, at the University of Technology Sydney, has been set up to improve and stimulate public knowledge of Federation history in time for the Centenary celebrations. One Destiny - History of Australia since Federation - interactive school site where students are downloading stories and pictures on to the site. Part of the One Destiny pilot global project. "The One Destiny! Web site tells the story of the making of the nation from Federation to the present. Individuals, communities and schools, who research the histories of their own localities and/or the places where their ancestors once lived, will tell the story." Australia in 1914 - This brief introduction to Australia on the eve of war in 1914 is a tight synopsis of the Introduction to the very highly recommended one-volume history of the Australian fighting services in the First World War, "Anzac to Amiens" by C.E.W.Bean, who was Official War Historian. Australian National Flag Association - This site is produced by the Australian National Flag Association. It includes information regarding the way the flag was designed, special flag flying days, the history of the flag and information regarding other flags important to Australia including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands flags.
