Below are the assessment dates for both Year 12 English and EAL. See the Course Overview for a full description of each assessment task.

Unless otherwise specified, all SACs are held on a Wedensday afternoon during periods 6 and 7.

Students are reminded of the SAC policy regarding all assessment tasks.

Using Language to Persuade (2 parts)

Task 1: Analysis of Language Use
A written analysis of the use of language in three persuasive texts that debate a topical and current issue in the Australian media.


Wednesday 13 March
Task 2: Point of View
An oral presentation that seeks to persuade the audience through a reasoned persuasive argument on a topical and current issue from the Australian media.

Completed by Friday 22 March
Reading and Responding

An extended written analytical interpretation of the novel Ransom.


Thursday 6 June

Creating and Presenting

Writing in Context
An extended finished piece of writing on the context,"Whose Reality?", drawing on the text Death of a Salesman.

19 June
Trial Examination

Section A:
Text Response: Ransom or Henry IV, Part I.

Section B:
Writing in context "Whose Reality?".

Section C:
Analysis of language use.

(The Trial Exam is a replica of the end-of-year examination).

Unit 4
Creating and Presenting

Writing in Context
An extended finished piece of writing on the context, "Whose Reality", drawing on the text Spies.

Undertaken during the class's double period plus 20 minutes (1:50 to 3:40 pm) within the fortnight period beginning 12 August and concluding 23 August
Reading and Responding

An extended written analytical interpretation of the play Henry IV, Part I.
