A. Satisfactory Completion of a Unit (S or N)
1
In order to achieve an S for the end-of-Unit, students must satisfy the coursework requirements as set out in the Study Design by VCAA. The Faculty course documents state the minimum coursework tasks set for satisfactory completion (refer to Course Overview)
2
Satisfactory completion of a Study Area is evidenced in the following ways:
• class attendance and preparation
• on-going active participation in class and group discussion
• completion of oral and written tasks
3
To achieve an outcome (S) the student must:
• produce work that meets the required standard
• submit work on time
• submit work that is clearly his own
• observe the VCAA and school rules.
4
Where a student has not satisfied coursework requirements, he will receive an N for the Unit.
• The student may redeem the N to an S by sitting one or more written tasks under teacher supervision during the end-of-semester exam period.
• To avoid authentication issues, completing tasks at home or outside of teacher supervision is not an option.

The student can redeem his mark by contacting his Class Teacher, or in the case of the teacher's absence, his Year Level Coordinator, either on the day of his absence, within 48 hours of his absence or upon immediate return to school. The student must provide written evidence such as a medical certificate.

Students who know they will be absent due to a significant co-curricular activity must inform both their Level Co-ordinator and Class Teacher well before the scheduled SAC date, or may forfeit his eligibility for redemption. Students must present a written statement of the co-curricular requirement, endorsed by the teacher in charge of the activity, to their subject teacher. Where it is not feasible to notify the class teacher about a valid absence in advance of the SAC date(s) the student must request alternative arrangements within 48 hours of returning to school.
3.  Supplementary SAC:
3.1
Students who receive approval to complete the Supplementary SAC will be required to sit it under teacher supervision.
3.2
The scheduled Supplementary SAC day and time is not negotiable unless there are existing or extenuating circumstances which are furnished in writing and approved by the student's Level Co-ordinator and the Faculty Co-ordinator.
